What COVID-Secure Measures Are in Place in UK Workplaces ?
Coronavirus is an infectious disease that is easily transmitted from person to person. In late 2019, the SARS-CoV-2 Coronavirus emerged as a new and previously unknown virus, causing the COVID-19 disease.
As a result, a number of measures were introduced by the Government to slow the spread and reduce the reproduction rate of the virus, including temporarily shutting workplaces, shops, and schools, wearing face coverings in healthcare settings and on public transport, and maintaining social distancing.
What is Social Distancing?
Social distancing has been highlighted as one of the most effective ways to minimise exposure to the virus. While each country has introduced its own social distancing regulations, in the UK the official advice is to remain at least 2 metres, or 6 feet, from those outside a person’s household where possible.
While social distancing is effective, it does introduce a number of challenges, particularly in terms of reopening businesses, educational establishments, and the British high street. As restrictions begin to ease further, there is an urgent need to adapt outdated approaches to create COVID-secure workspaces.
At this unusual time, workplace signage is becoming an increasingly important factor of a good communications strategy. By installing appropriate signage, businesses can take a powerful yet cost-effective approach to raising awareness of safety measures, and creating COVID-secure workspaces.
For those organisations where social distancing is proving to be a major challenge, including shops, schools, hotels, and offices, signage can be massively effective at not only supporting workers and customers as they adapt to the new normal, but also in reminding them of the importance of safety.
