Mandatory signs are required to be displayed in the workplace in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999. They are designed as reminders to workers of legal requirements of companies to protect against health & safety risks by stating a specific behaviour or action that must be obeyed.

The HSE website states that "making the workplace safe includes providing instructions to encourage people to work safely and responsibly". Certain hazards remain even when safe systems of work have been applied. These signs in our range cover areas, such as Personal Protection Equipment needed to reduce the risk of injuries to the lungs, the head and feet, the eyes, the skin and the body.
